    Whether you're planning on doing your project yourself or hiring a contractor, you should be prepared with an understanding of the costs of a project and the construction process.  If you are doing the work yourself, a budget helps you know whether you have the resources to complete the project or whether you will need financing.  When working with a contractor, it's best to understand the costs of the project to make sure the quote they give you is reasonable.

            In most cases you can compare pricing from detailed bids to make sure you are getting a  competitive price. In this process you can review estimates to compare apples to apples. One of the biggest problems in construction is when the lowest bid is accepted but it does not include items you thought were in the contract. Starting with an initial free consultation, we will tour the house, discuss the owner's needs and desires, help to establish a budget, and review preliminary design ideas for the project.
